Farewell my friend...
March has been one hell of a month for me...I am so ready to say goodbye to winter and welcome spring in with a grand hello! I started and completed my high acuity clinicals...with a little mishap in between...and they turned out to be my favorite clinicals of all my nursing school. I spend a day in the Burn/Trauma ICU and Surgical ICU which blew me away and opened my eyes to all the possibilities I have as a nurse! Im incredibly proud of myself for making it through the day on BTICU without throwing up/passing out/or having to switch ICU's. I cant wait for the future and what my nursing career holds for me. I struggled through 2 high acuity exams and breezed through a community nursing exam. I started my community clinicals at an instacare which are a cake walk for me but still a great experience I have the opportunity to enjoy. And finally to kick off the last day of March I will wake up tomorrow and take the exit HESI...one step closer to the NCLEX and being a nurse. Im so excited, so grateful and so thankful for the struggles of March and everything this month has taught me!

The Year of the Rabbit
My chinese horoscope this week:
The energy this week can bring overly optimistic Rabbits down to earth. You will be wise to work hard and protect what you have. It's important to remain hopeful but realistic about limitations. Someone close may say something thoughtless that upsets the balance in a valued relationship. Power struggles are possible if people are dishonest or hide their true feelings. True harmony requires more give and take. Misunderstandings or delays are best accepted with patience and good humor.
The lesson: true harmony requires more give and take...I need to be better!

Role Reversal
I am the worst patient...
I show up early...sit...wait...wait some more...sit a little longer...check in..go through multiple tests...wait a little longer...get a preliminary result...wait...wait and more waiting!!
Being on the other side of the super secret doors is no fun....
I will take being a nurse any day over being a patient
Its the worst!!!
Waiting in the cardiology clinic at the U before getting the Echo done!

Out with a BANG!!!
I ended my high acuity clinical's with a BOOM! I got to the hospital at 6:45am with Heather and Mike feeling great and so excited for the day on IMCU...Its been a crazy week and before I left Heather we looked at each other and said today's going to be a great day!...well what started as a great day didn't end out to be so great! I got on the unit at 7:00am...sat down for report on the floor...got introduced to my nurse for the day...picked our patients and off we went...got to our little nook on the unit and starting getting report from the night nurse and looking up information about our patient's.....next thing I know Im on the floor with 1,000 faces standing over me and a resident trying to get me up to a wheelchair to get me to the ED! So what started as an exciting day of being a high acuity nurse actually ended as me becoming a high acuity patient...code and all!

Disaster Drill
On February 26 I had the chance to participate in a CERT drill as a volunteer victim with 3 of my girlfriends! We still needed some more clinical hours for our community nursing class and thought this would be a fun way to spend a saturday morning together. We all got handed a card with some injury on it and we got to play the part! Heather did the best job...she was screaming at the top of her lungs while I was sitting there dying laughing my ass off! The morning ended up being a lot of fun and it was a good opportunity to get to help the community learn first aid and rescue skills in case a disaster really does hit!
If a disaster strikes....dont worry Im totally prepared now! ;)
