Adjustments...

I have had a lot of moments over the last month where I have had to stop and breathe and tell myself everything will be okay and everything will work out the way it was intended for me! My biggest adjustment has been my new job as a nurse. I love it but hate being the new girl who doesn't know anything. I have been orienting with different nurses every time I go to work, which is so nice but hard too because everyone has there own way of doing things. I've adjusted to working 3 12 hour shifts per week instead of working 5 8's which killed me in the beginning but now I cant imagine going back to the 8's, having 4 days off a week is totally worth it. I started working nights last week which was a MAJOR adjustment for me...I have probably never in my life stayed awake from 7pm-7am then drove 30 minutes home, that was the biggest nightmare of being a nurse so far and I get to alternate between nights and days every other month so its something Im going to have to get used to. Its stressful being the new girl and not really knowing anyone or anything and learning everything from scratch but Im giving it my best shot and I truly am loving finally being a real nurse. School has been a bit stressful for me this semester too, Im taking a statistics class at the U before I start the BSN program in the fall and its taking every thing I have to try to get through that class. Math is definitely one of my biggest weaknesses but I know I can get through it and will never have to look back after August 5th. Life is always changing for me but the last month has really been about big adjustments in my life from work, to school, to friends and family. Things are always going on in my life but I just have to remind myself that everything is going to be alright, and to take a deep breath and just breathe.

Yosemite Day 5

On one of our last days in Yosemite we stayed close to our condo and explored some sights around town. We woke up and decided to go hike down to the bottom of this river and see some falls that were there. I have a habit of walking over to trailhead signs immediately before I ever start any trail...call me paranoid but I want to know what I could potentially encounter. The one and only sign at the trailhead was about Mountain Lions which I am deathly afraid of!...and we had seen our fair share of bears the last thing I wanted to see was a lion!...I didnt thankfully! Anyways after the hike we had a great lunch at this cute pizza place and then went off to find the Butterfly Creek Winery in Mariposa. We had never been to a vineyard before and it was quite the experience.
 Legitimately concerned.

Yosemite Day 4

We started our morning hiking into mirror lake and that was another must see in Yosemite, it was beautiful. Its called mirror lake because it mirrors Half Dome all day long. And seeing it the day before from the top to seeing it from the very bottom was awesome and totally different perspective on the same huge piece of rock. Afterwards we went and checked out the Ahwahnee hotel...(it would be the most perfect place for a wedding) It was so spacious, homey, and open, and probably the only hotel with the most beautiful backdrop you could ever have. After hanging out there for a bit, eating yummy truffles and lounging in the sun we headed over the El Cap to watch the climbers make there way up the big granite slab....and have a near run in with another Yogi Bear!...I learned to whistle really loud on this trip.

Taking a pic of Half Dome looking up...
Break for lunch and an afternoon nap in the sun on a big granite rock with the river running by...PERFECT!
 The Ahwahnee Hotel
I had to touch the lead rope on El Cap...one day Ill be back to climb a piece of it!
Relaxing on the grass watching the climbers head up El Capitan

 The tourist picture!

Yosemite Day 3

The 3rd day in Yosemite was by far my favorite day there. We woke up super early to catch the sunrise at Inspiration Point and it was worth it, its unbelievably breath taking. We drove all the way into yosemite valley to hike the John Muir Trail up to Half Dome. We knew we couldnt make it all the way to the top because of the late winter the park service hadnt set up the cables yet...so we will be going back next year for sure to finish the trip. The hike was amazing, we hit the trail early and beat a lot of the other visitors so we had a super peaceful trip up to the base of half dome. The scenery was gorgeous from the minute we got out of the car to the base and back.

 The Merced River

The hike up to Vernal Falls was a stair stepper and I got soaking wet from all the moisture from the falls.

6.2 miles in on the John Muir Trail to Half Dome, in the backcountry with no one around and we come across a bear with her cubs...my heart has never raced so fast in my whole life.
